The Jubilee Year of St. Paul
2008-2009

The Catholic Church throughout the world is celebrating the Jubilee Year of St. Paul from June 2008 through June of 2009.  This commemorates the two-thousandth anniversary of his birth.  Pope Benedict has asked us to focus on Paul’s life, writings and lasting influence.

St. Benedict’s Parish will celebrate the Jubilee Year of St. Paul through prayer, study and action.  We ask that you participate as much as possible in our events throughout the year. Our parish goal is simple – to imitate St. Paul’s zeal for Christ and His Church.

Here are some parish events to watch for during the Jubilee Year of St. Paul:

 PRAYER

-         Two Holy Hours on Pauline themes

-         An accent on Paul’s writings during our Liturgies

 STUDY

-         Evening presentations on Pauline themes and visits to parish organizations to speak about St. Paul

-         Our St. Jerome Book Club and Bible Study Group will examine St. Paul in the course of the year

 ACTION

            -     Spiritual and educational outreach to fellow Christians

            -     Supporting and encouraging missionary activity among our parishioners

Please consult the bulletin and website for specific dates and times for parish events.

Deacon Bill highly recommends the website from the Catholic Church in England and Wales for more information.  There are articles (and numerous links to websites) on St. Paul’s life, his writings, official celebrations, Pope Benedict’s homilies and much more.

May St. Paul, Apostle to the Gentiles,

 intercede for our parish

and help us proclaim the Gospel more effectively!
