Revoked Decree

Dear Parishioners,

On March 9, 2026 your parish trustees, Amy Bradley and Matt Georger and I met with Bishop Fisher and the Diocesan Road to Renewal Team. We presented a snapshot of a growing and dynamic parish where parishioners lived their call to discipleship. Included in our presentation was information regarding all aspects of parish life – Mass attendance, sacramental participation, finances, etc.  Today we were informed that Bishop Fisher revoked his decree requiring the merger of St. Benedict Parish into St. Leo the Great Parish.

This means that St. Benedict Parish will remain open.

I am extremely grateful for everyone’s dedication, support, and continued participation in parish life. Moving forward the Diocese of Buffalo will continue to monitor each parish within Family 16. Therefore, we must all work together to continue the process of strengthening all the parishes of our Bread of Life Catholic Community.  This will be a challenge we will meet together.

I invite you to a St. Benedict Community Meeting, on March 18th, 6:30 PM, in the St. Benedict Church, for parishioners from all of our parishes in the Bread of Life Community.  Updates from the Pillars will be presented and we will discuss goals for the future.

Together, we will meet this challenge in Christ.

In Christ,

Fr. David Bellittiere
